Part 2 of the Science Masters Chemistry In Practice Investigation Masterclass focuses on the later stages of the new Senior Cycle Chemistry investigative report, with a strong emphasis on quantitative data handling, scientific analysis and structured report writing.
This live online masterclass is designed to support students as they continue developing their Chemistry in Practice Investigation while building stronger analytical, investigative and scientific communication skills in line with the current Senior Cycle Chemistry specification.
This session will focus on:
• Data collection and presentation
• Constructing scientific tables and graphs
• Calculations and quantitative analysis
• Interpreting trends, anomalies and reaction patterns
• Writing scientifically structured conclusions
• Evaluation, limitations and improvements
• Scientific literacy and report communication
• Referencing and report formatting
• Common weaknesses students should avoid in Chemistry investigative reports
The workshop will include:
• Live walkthroughs and explanation
• Chemistry investigation examples across a range of topics
• Guidance on strong quantitative methods and data analysis
• Discussion of variables, reliability, validity and precision
• Opportunities for students to ask questions about their own investigations
• Support with graphing, calculations and scientific interpretation
The session is intended to help students develop clearer scientific structure, stronger analytical writing and greater confidence approaching the Chemistry in Practice Investigation report.
